Athletics

The major goal of an interscholastic athletic program is the same as for any other educational program—to provide youth with the opportunity to develop to their maximum potential. In this case, the program provides for development of physical and mental skills through competitive athletics, which enhances students’ personal and social skills. Competitive athletics generates a pride in achievement; an appreciation of team effort, hard work, and fair play; respect for rules of the game; and respect for the abilities of others. It should be noted that participation in athletic activities is a PRIVILEGE offered to and earned by students.

CCPS is a member of the New Mexico Activities Association and is currently classified as a 3A school as a member of District 6.  For the 2017-2018 school year CCPS is competing in the following varsity sports: boys and girls cross country, girls volleyball, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls swimming, boys and girls golf, and boys and girls track & field.  We also have middle school programs in boys and girls cross country, boys and girls basketball, track and field, and girls volleyball that compete in the Albuquerque Charter School League.   Check out the calendar for a complete list of important athletic meeting dates and competitions.  GO COYOTES!

Physical Information

All student athletes must receive a physical prior to athletic participation.  A physical form, signed by the performing physician, must be submitted to the school before a student is declared eligible.  The form below is an example, but physicians may supply their own form as well.  The physical must be dated April 1, 2017 or later and they are only valid until April 1, 2018.
