Ms. Alba Ortiz attended the International Baccalaureate Student World Conferences (IBSWC) held at Bluche, Switzerland, with fellow and former CCPS teacher, Mr. Santos Contreras. Students came to discuss the theme: "Global Citizenship: Exploring individual and collective responsibilities." They had the opportunity to meet other IB students from around the world to explore and discusse topics centered around global responsibility and citizenship. The objective was for students to return to their schools and/or home countries, and bring their learning and knowledge back to explore how to provide something positive back to the world around them. It is Ms. Ortiz's goal for a CCPS student to participate next year in the IBSWC in London.
In addition to that adventure, Ms. Ortiz experienced more world travels with four CCPS students as they traveled through Spain. The students included three current tenth-graders (Lea Purvis, Neo Watson, and Hanna Morgan-Smith) and one ninth-grader (Ariel Pena). The reasoning behind this trip was eloquently stated by Ms. Ortiz:
"The world is changing and today more than ever our students at CCPS are eager to explore other countries and learn how to become globally minded."
